So about a month or 2 ago, I came across a particular artist that I watch. I enjoy looking at everyone's work & hope to better improve my own & observing will definitely help me get there. So this particular artist that I watch, I've been watching his work for quite some time. I've started to notice imperfections in his work, not saying it's a bad thing because nobody is perfect. I just felt as if he had the skills to improve it.

This particular work was a commission he was doing for somebody else. So I made a small comment about it, wasn't disrespectful or anything & I asked how he felt about & also asked if he also noticed the same thing. So what i've been noticing is the fact that his body parts are way disproportional, He has amazing coloring skills. I just believed he lacks at drawing legs.

The best way I can describe how he draws his legs, would be that... Imagine if your looking at someone standing up straight, like in a picture. So this picture would just show just above his knee & up. So in this picture his/her waist up would be proportioned to be standing upright, & the legs would be coming towards you off the picture like Liner Perspective. Not only would the legs look as if they are coming off the page like it doesn't belong there like Pin the tail on the donkey, the shape would be way off as well, not showing any type of dramatic change in curves. What I mean by that is that it was showing as if the whole leg on both legs was believed to be nothing but thigh.

I didn't really have that much of a comment on the characters breast because hey you can make it any size you please even if it's not proportional. Although after my comment asking if he noticed the flaw, & if he was trying to improve his own work, his comment was very much unexpected. He basically sub commented me not letting me know directly, but what he said was he doesn't care about the proportions & it was a commission that his client was fine with.

I personally thought that was quite bullshit, & I talked to my college Visual Communications Board about it, & he had the same opinion. Normally if someone told me or anyone about a flaw they noticed & asked me about it & asked if I was trying to find a way to make an improvement, I would simply try to better my self & take it as a way to make my self better. Alright I get it, Nobody is perfect, but I don't really see a harm in finding a way to being that much of a step closer right?

I was actually going to keep the opinion to my self but I saw that this particular artist was still quite butt hurt about it. He had posted another picture he had done with a caption saying " I don't care about the proportions yada yada yada." I was actually quite surprised, personally that's pathetic. The school board person I mentioned earlier that the previous incident was beyond pathetic.

But hey this just my personal thoughts, What do you all think about it?
